5/29/10 Abilene Big weekend of racing at Abilene Speedway. With the Kelly Sheen Memorial race being
held at Abilene Speedway we seen a drastic increase in the car count, 130 to be exact. Tyler started out
the night drawing a great number for the heat. He started on the front row of his heat and lead every
lap. He luck continued to be great when he redrew a 2 for the feature. This meant he would start front
row outside. After 4 restarts before a completed lap Tyler settled into second behind Kenneth Graves.
Tyler took a look under Graves a couple of times coming out of turn four but could never get the pass
made. With laps winding down Matt Mueller aka "Mr. Clean" wheeled to the outside from the 5th
position. Matt passed Tyler with two to go and got Graves at the flagstand for the win. Tyler did a great
job having his best finish of theyear at Abilene. 3rd place and no damage thats a good night.
The Mods were lined up by points avg. I started 2nd row outside. It was good to be close to the front
but the top wasn't the place to be. After the first lap I was in 5th place but started working my way
forward. The Hughes car was working the bottom well. We were able to pass two cars on the bottom
and one car by running just off the bottom groove. When we got to second Gabe Tucker was gone. We
ran a couple of laps with me giving chase but it did not seem like I was closing the gap. Thank
goodness for cautions!!!!!! After the restart Gabe made two uncharacteristic errors on the same lap
allowing me to get by coming out of turn 2. From that point forward it was a matter of hitting my marks
and not getting to excited. I managed to survive a few late race cautions to take the win, my 4th of the
season.
Headed to Lubbock on Friday 6/4 and Abilene on Sat. 6/5. Wish us luck and thanks for your support.
